Regulation 4 of CAR 2006 (A Duty To Manage Asbestos in Non-Domestic Premises)
The new and compulsory Regulation 4 of the Control of Asbestos Regulations (CAR) 2006 legislation requires employers to protect anyone in their employ from exposure to asbestos including employees, contractors, visitors and the public.
The HSE have been enforcing this regulation since 21st May 2004 and will continue to do so until Duty Holders responsible for non-domestic premises within UK businesses, organisations and Government departments are compliant. Those who fail to comply will risk crippling fines and even imprisonment.
Managing asbestos to meet current legislation and avoid fines for non-compliance (Type 1 and 2 Asbestos Surveys)
To comply, an Asbestos Management Plan is required by Duty Holders this must be accompanied by a register or log of asbestos containing materials, their location and condition for ongoing maintenance and management.
Maylarch will carry out a comprehensive survey for asbestos, carry out material assessments and produce a log of all asbestos containing materials ready for implementation into the management plan. Ensuring that the client is in compliance of the regulations.
Preparation for demolition or major refurbishment (Type 3 Asbestos Survey)
Prior to the demolition or major refurbishment of any property in the UK it is a legal requirement to identify where the Asbestos Containing Materials (ACM's) are located in the building. This is to ensure that asbestos is not disturbed while site works are being carried out.
An asbestos survey is essential to identifying where the ACM's are located and has the added benefit of being a document that can be used to tender for the removal of asbestos.
Maylarch's central UK location in Oxfordshire enables us to offer a free, competitive and no obligation quotation for projects across the UK.
Asbestos removal, encapsulation and management
Maylarch apply best practice to all our asbestos identification and removal works and before starting we supply a detailed method statement and risk assessment document for the project. Our aim is to ensure we not only meet but exceed legislative requirements, giving you complete peace of mind.
Asbestos removal requires the utmost attention to safety and Maylarch have the credentials in this field of expertise:
Maylarch credentials:
- Full membership of A.R.C.A. (The Asbestos Removal Contractors Association)
- The stringent A.R.C.A. Site Audit Accreditation Scheme (S.A.A.S) has recognised us for our excellence in site standards, safe working methods and management systems.
- Licensed by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) for all asbestos removal and asbestos encapsulation work.
Our fully scaled services for business include:
- Asbestos Removal
- Asbestos Encapsulation
- Asbestos Disposal
Asbestos removal and encapsulation often fall under HSE licensing regulations. This requires the Duty Holder to provide the HSE with a written plan of work and an ASB 5 notification form at least 14 days prior to work commencement. All works relating to ACM's must be in accordance with The Control of Asbestos at Work Regulations 2006 (CAR 2006).
If ACM's are to remain in situ and be managed in accordance with CAR2006, they must be encapsulated or encased to ensure they are protected from damage and cannot release any fibres. Maylarch use specialist products to seal ACM surfaces and where necessary, we will put physical barriers in place for added safety.
We will bring your projects to a swift and safe conclusion using our knowledge and experience. We offer everything from the removal of a single corrugated cement-bonded asbestos sheet locally in Oxfordshire right up to the removal or encapsulation of asbestos across multiple outlets nationwide.
