Pegasus Theatre Redevelopment
Client: Pegasus Theatre Trust
Value: £70,000
Brief: To demolish and dispose of 2 structures including asbestos at rehearsal studios and redundant substation to allow for redevelopment and expansion of the theatre.
The theatre has been a long time champion of the theatre and arts education with young people, the local community and professional artists at the start of their careers and following funding from The Department for Children, Schools and Families, Arts Council England, Oxfordshire County Council and Oxford City Council. Fielden Clegg Bradley Studios were appointed and the design was brought to life.
Maylarch are thrilled to be involved with this project, given the impact that the extension to the theatre will have on the local community.
The Theatre site was situated in the heart of a residential estate and on a one way system - this meant careful planning and traffic management plans were crucial to ensure minimal disruption to the local residents.
Maylarch carried out a letter drop to all local residents prior to commencement of works detailing our schedules, site safety procedures and contact details for anyone having concerns. We regularly updated residents and were available to discuss any issues which may have arisen due to the nature of works.
Site Safety was our highest priority due to the close proximity to residents in which we carried out the works.
"Thanks for this morning - you and your team were fabulous. I've told them that, but please do too. Paul may even get on the front page of tomorrow's Oxford Mail."
